Moving Forward By Faith

We praise the Lord that "little by little" progress in being made in the construction process. Several tall palm trees were successfully removed and the workmen worked so hard to landscape the ground and place drains back into place. There is an air of expectancy as we wait upon the Lord for His financial provision to actually begin construction.

The building plans are in the hands of city council officials and, by faith, we anticipate a building permit to be issued by Christmas time, the Lord-willing. Please continue to pray with us about this matter. It will be such an incredible milestone to have the building permit in our possession.

The other important matter that needs prayer concerns the issue of our property title. Government authorities, for whatever reason, have still not issued CEF's title to the property that was purchased almost a year ago. We will deeply appreciate your prayers for this important matter as it has been requested by the city council so that a construction permit can be issued. Thank you so much for praying!

The Trees are Down!

We are pleased to report that all seven palm trees were successfully cut down. Workers are on site at the office today digging up and removing the tree stumps which are huge. We thank the Lord for His protection and precise falling of these big trees. Thank you for praying for God's protection!

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Please pray for God's protection around the men and workers who will be cutting down SEVEN extremely tall palm trees on Tuesday, 28th October which border CEF's property. Ask God to guide the falling of each tree so as to prevent personal injury and damage to property. Ask the Lord to provide the necessary finances to have these trees removed.
  • We were thrilled today to resubmit the architectural plans for CEF's new national office and training center to the Lautoka City Council. We expect the approval and issue of a building permit by Christmas time. What a GRAND GIFT that will be!

Hurdle Crossed...Thank the Lord!

Late this afternoon, word came that the National Fire Authority and the Occupational Health Services Dept. have granted their official approval for the architectural design of CEF's new office and training facility. This has been long in coming and we praise the Lord for this victory! Siki, who serves on the staff of CEF Fiji, labored long and hard in Suva this week, in soggy, wet weather with a cold to secure these approvals. How we praise the Lord for Siki and his perseverance!

Please pray now for the NEXT STEP which is to resubmit these drawings to the local city council in anticipation that a building permit will soon be issued. We plan to submit these documents to the local authority on Monday, October 27th.

Cent-A-Vote & Buy-A-Brick Cards Available!

We have begun distribution within Fiji of our 10 Cents-a-Vote & Buy-A-Brick cards. We're so excited to have already received $70.00 in just the first couple of days. This may be small in light of the thousands of dollars that we need to raise, but it IS a beginning.

It is especially thrilling to see boys and girls raising the funds that will help us reach other children for Jesus Christ in the years to come.

It has been exciting to witness the enthusiasm of the adults, too, in helping us to raise the necessary funds. Please continue to pray for God's provision!

If you would like to have your own 10-Cent a Vote card (valued at $10.00 per card) and/or a Buy-a-Brick card (valued at $100 per card), please email us (form to the right) and we will gladly send some to you.

Drawing Attention: The Signboards are Up!

We are so thrilled to have the new Moriah Project signboards up at the front of CEF's property! PRAY for the eyes of God's people to be drawn to these boards and that they will respond by giving and praying!

God has no economic woes!

Today: A Beehive of Activity!

Today turned out to be a GREAT day in terms of getting some things done for the Moriah Project. Here's some of the "highlights" of today's accomplishments:
  • The architect showed up at the office with the final drawings of a beautifully-designed fence that will be built when the new office is completed.
  • We were able to get the property surveyed and "pegs" marked to show the boundary lines. This was a great accomplishment.
  • The Fijian men on staff were able to cement new poles for The Moriah Project signboard and the beautiful signboard should be installed tomorrow, the Lord-willing. Check back for pictures!
  • Fourthly, we've made frequent requests with local city authorities to remove seven 5-story palm trees and our requests apparently fell on deaf ears every time. The trees need to be removed in preparation for the construction and to prevent property damage in case of a cyclone. Imagine our great delight to discover today that the trees are on our boundary line and we will now be able to remove them at our own will! Praise the Lord!

Make His Praise Glorious - 8 Receive Christ!

What a great day it was today when eight precious boys and girls came to know Christ as their personal Saviour this afternoon after Good News Club. Siki was privileged to lead them to the Lord after his Bible lesson. In this video clip, the children are reciting their memory verse, Psalm 66:2 which says "make His praise glorious". Amen to that!

Tool Time Kent

"Tool Time Kent" visited the CEF Teacher Training Class on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd, ready for construction to begin on our new office! However, the only thing which halted the beginning of construction was the lack of funds!

He was there to enlist recruits (teachers) who would take up the challenge of doing some fund-raising for the Moriah Project. With laughter and fun, several of the teachers responded enthusiastically to take up the challenge!

Pray that the Lord will raise a host of folks who will PARTNER with us to get this building built for the Lord! What a great day that will be!

The Good News Bure (Until We Get Our New Office)

Out behind the CEF office, due to lack of space inside, the CEF men and several volunteers built a "temporary"
Good News Bure to be used as a venue for teacher training classes and a CEF Good News Club! A "bure" is the Fijian word for "house". On the first week of classes (Sept 9,'08), there were 17 adults who came to attend the CEF teacher training classes. Later that afternoon, there were more than 50 children to attend the Good News Club from the primary school across the street from the CEF office!

How we praise the Lord for providing CEF Fiji with this temporary building until there are sufficient funds on hand to build the new office! Keep praying and trusting the Lord with us, will you?

The Architectural Plan

The design for the new office is so exciting for us! It has been designed so that it can be built in "stages" as God provides the funding, although we would like to see it built all at one time. It will contain office space, a training center to seat up to 100 people and then an apartment at the back for the CEF director and family.

The existing building (pictured below) will eventually be demolished as it is substandard needing extensive electrical and plumbing work.

PRAY for God to "do wonders" and to miraculously provide the money needed for this project!

Mini-Extreme Makeover - Fiji Style!

The staff of CEF Fiji spent most of Dec '07 painting and doing a significant "face lift" both on the interior and exterior portions of the house. We have a beautiful office now located in a prime location that only God could have given! We're on the "main road" going through Lautoka and situated on a beautiful, spacious corner lot. How gracious of the Lord! We're grateful to the Lord for this property knowing that we are simply the caretakers of that which really belongs to Him!

God Gives the Property!

December 3, 2007 marked a grand day when payment was made in full for the new property of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Fiji. It was such a joy to celebrate God's faithfulness in providing the funds necessary to purchase the property and the existing house to be used temporarily as the CEF office in Fiji. It was a day of liberation when the national office moved out from the home of CEF missionaries, Kent & Becky Bryant, after 11 years. How we praise the Lord for financial gifts which were given from within Fiji and overseas to make this possible!
